We strongly recommend all our new patients make use of this check, as it enables our doctors and nurses to obtain an up-to-date medical history and provides an opportunity to review any medication.
Health Promotion
Our Practice Nurses run a comprehensive list of Health Promotion Clinics covering the following topics. Well Man/Woman, Teenage Health, Diet and Exercise, Travellers’ Health, Diabetes, Asthma and Coronary Heart Disease.
In addition, the doctors also organise their own sessions for conditions in which they are particularly interested and qualified.
Elderly Patient Immunisation Programmes
We offer annual flu immunisations to all those aged 65 and over. In addition, we are now able to offer pneumococcal immunisation to all those aged 75 and over and aged 65 and over from 1 st April 2005 . Despite these age criteria we will continue to offer flu and pneumococcal immunisations to all those on our 'at risk' register.
Cervical Smears
The introduction by the NHS of Liquid Based Cytology has meant changes to our cervical smear service. Women between the ages of 25 and 49 should now receive a recall for a cervical smear every three years. Women between the ages of 50 and 64 should continue to receive a recall for a cervical smear every five years. If you believe that your appointment is overdue, please contact us for advice.

Family Planning
All the Partners and the Practice Nurses provide a range of contraceptive services.
Child Developmental Assessments
Developmental Assessments of the under 5’s are carried out at the Surgery by all doctors often with your Health Visitor. Please address any enquiries to your Health Visitor.
Minor Surgery
All the doctors are qualified to carry out minor surgery operations and they provide both specific clinics and individual appointments.
Research
The Practice is actively engaged in research and normally has two or more programmes running. Patients may be asked to help us with research programmes but are under no obligation whatsoever to agree and will not be included without a full and clear discussion as to what is involved. We will fully understand if at any stage you decide you no longer wish to take part.
Complementary Therapy Centre In the summer of 2000, we opened a major extension to the facilities of the surgery, with improved waiting areas, a full pharmacy, which is leased to Moss Ltd, a research facility and a complementary therapy centre. Well-known local private professionals in the following disciplines provide complementary therapies.

Appointments can be made at reception. At present some of the psychotherapy services are available on the NHS for our registered patients and we may refer patients to Mrs White or Mr Mitchell as appropriate.
