Doctor's Appointment - Telephone Warminster (01985) 224600
Appointments to see a doctor can be made between the hours of 0830 ( 8.30 am ) and 1830 ( 6.30 pm ) only by telephoning Warminster (01985) 224600 . For an urgent appointment please inform the Nurse Adviser who will make the necessary arrangements. Please make such requests as early in the day as possible.

Home Visits - Telephone Warminster (01985) 224600
Please try to come to the surgery whenever possible, as facilities here are far better for examinations and treatment. If you are housebound or too ill to attend the surgery please try to make your request for a visit by 1200 ( 12 pm ).
Nurse Advisers
Our Nurse Advisers are fully trained Nurses who normally work specifically for two of the partners. You can be assured that they can fully discuss your medical problem in the strictest confidence. They will help to identify the nature of your medical problem and assess how it is best dealt with.
Receptionists
Our Receptionists try to ensure the smooth working of the practice and the best use of the doctors’ and nurses’ time. The Receptionists are not clinically trained and cannot decide on the nature of your medical problem or how it should best be dealt with. Therefore, if you are not satisfied with the appointment time that you have been offered then they will have to refer you to our Nurse Advisers.

Telephone Calls
Our research has shown that our telephone lines are busiest between 0830 ( 8.30 am ) and 1000 ( 10 am ) and 1400 ( 2 p.m. ) and 1430 ( 2.30 p.m. ) therefore it would help us greatly if you could avoid telephoning at these times for routine matters.
In order to provide effective training, protect our staff from abuse and meet current data protection regulations, telephone calls to and from The Avenue Surgery may be recorded.
Emergency Calls - Telephone Warminster (01985) 224600
If you are faced with a life-threatening emergency at any time please do not waste time calling the surgery because we will be unable to help. Instead please immediately call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
If you need a doctor in a medical emergency between 0800 ( 8.00 a.m. ) and 1830 ( 6.30 p.m. ) a Nurse Adviser will normally take your call and make the necessary arrangements.
At any other time our ‘answerphone’ will give you the telephone number of the West Wiltshire PCT Out-of-hours Service or you can telephone the service direct on 0845 120 8476.
