Blood Tests

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Drop in Blood Clinic and online booking via SystmOnline is currently suspended. Please submit an eConsult if you wish to be seen.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 08.00am- 10.00am at The Avenue Surgery

If you are requested to have your bloods taken by a Healthcare professional, report to the reception desk at the time and days stated above. You will be seen on a first come, first served basis, by one of our HCAs.

Unfortunately, patients who come in after 10.00am will be required to come back on the next available day/ clinic. The clinic is ONLY for blood tests. We will be unable to complete any other tests e.g. ECGs, BPs, etc.

Some blood tests need to be done on fasting samples. You will be informed if you need to fast for your blood test.

If you are to fast, you should have nothing to eat or drink (except plain water) from 10pm the night before your blood test appointment.

To stress this point: water is allowed; food, tea, coffee, milk, lemonade… in fact, anything but water is not allowed and may mean you will have to book another blood test.

If the prospect of having blood taken fills you with fear, tell us, because there are ways to make the procedure more comfortable.
